WELCOME

Hi & Welcome to the Eurovision thought's 'Eurosong 2008' special pages. Hope you enjoy the articles.
2007 was a bit of a disaster in terms of Eurovision for the Emerald isle. Don't get me wrong, I am not judging Dervish or the song, because I loved 'They can't stop the Spring' and thought it would, at the very least, match Brian Kennedy's 2006 success. The castastrophe that I speak of, as you all probably already know, is our first ever last place in the Eurovsion Song Contest. Eight months has passed dince that traumatic night in May and everyones mind is already focussed on our entry for 2008. RTE have done what seems to come naturally to them nowadays and changed their selection format again. This now means that Ireland are on their fourth selection format of this decade.

What makes this year's changes special is that they may actually have an affect on the overall quality of our national finals. Some of the sweeping changes that are on the cards are the return to a multi-artist final, composers choosing the singers, RTE requesting a conception of the stage act with all entries and finally, a change of location from Dublin to Limerick. The latter will come as quite a surprise to many Irish fans who haven't seen an Irish national final outside the capital since 1994 when it was hosted in The University Concert Hall in Limerick, coincidentally that is this year's venue aswell.

You can read more about the venue on the dedicated page, and as soon as RTE announce the singers you can expect detailed biographies and download links for the songs as soon as they become public.
